z/OS

Using Athene for z/OS the effects of changes to workloads, hardware, file layouts, memory allocation and other aspects of the system can be predicted, such as:

  • Modifying the workload by adding or removing applications
  • Altering the priority, arrival rate, multiprogramming level of workloads
  • Adding or removing LPARs and changing their workload mapping
  • Modifying the amount of CPU time or I/O service required by a particular job or transaction, or paging rates of workload components
  • Changing the hardware configuration
  • Consolidating workloads from two or more systems

A single model can describe a large number of detailed changes. Alternatively, more general changes can be examined over a number of projected dates in the future.
