Using Athene for z/OS the effects of changes to workloads, hardware, file layouts, memory allocation and other aspects of the system can be predicted, such as:
Modifying the workload by adding or removing applications
Altering the priority, arrival rate, multiprogramming level of workloads
Adding or removing LPARs and changing their workload mapping
Modifying the amount of CPU time or I/O service required by a particular job or transaction, or paging rates of workload components
Changing the hardware configuration
Consolidating workloads from two or more systems
A single model can describe a large number of detailed changes. Alternatively, more general changes can be examined over a number of projected dates in the future.
