The client-server model is represented pictorially using linked nodes to give the topology of the environment. The nodes represent servers, networks or clients. Flexibility is inherent in the model definition to reflect whatever client-server implementation you wish to consider.
A simple interface allows easy investigation of 'what if' questions in real time. Typical investigations cover:
- The number of client and server systems.
- The volume of work generated by the client systems
- The resource consumption of each type of client-server transaction at the client system(s), on the LAN and at the server system(s)
- The speed and number of hardware devices attached to the clients and servers.
- The volume and resource usage of workloads only processed locally on clients or servers.
- LAN loads generated by sources other than the modeled client-server systems.
- Increased WAN or LAN loading.
